The project’s purpose is to sustainably improve the lives and livelihoods of 1,600 poor people (70% women) and their families (8000 people), living in ten communities, five on either side of the Georgia/Armenia border. Beneficiaries identified are acutely vulnerable IDPs in Georgia, and remote border communities in Armenia. The project will achieve this by increasing the income of marginalised communities from the sustainable harvesting and marketing of forest produce, taking advantage of the high demand for forest products, and the availability of raw materials in both Armenia and Georgia. The project will address the gaps that currently exist between market demand for non timber forest produce (NTFP), such as wild berries and rosehips, and the lack of supply of such produce.
