Capacity-building and support of measures towards implementation of integrated waste management system in Georgia with a focus on hazardous and biodegradable waste management as well as producer’s responsibility during 2016-2019

The overall impact of the project’s measures has a long-term perspective and can improve overall waste management system of Georgia on the national level and decrease negative effects of waste disposal practices on human health and the environment in Georgia. Under this general project impact, the following components are proposed and directed to the 3 partners of the project: Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia, Solid Waste Management Company of Georgia and LTD “TbilService Group”.
For the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia:

Provided support in establishing of the procedure of Hazardous Waste inventory; made inventory of one of the hazardous waste sites and provided knowledge of Best Practice of Hazardous waste management.   

Increased knowledge of integrated waste management and filled in the MENRP’s staff’s gaps of expertise on different aspects of waste management, such as: management of hazardous and biodegradable waste, extended producer responsibility.

For the Solid Waste Management Company of Georgia and for the LTD “TbilService Group”:
Elaboration of the municipal waste Management occupational safety methodology for workers involved in collection, transportation and disposal of waste.
Supported SWMC:s and TbilService Group” management and landfill operators with the appliance of the acceptance criteria
