Harmonization of Analytical Methods Used in the National Environmental Agency of Georgia with the Requirements of the Water Framework Directive 2013/39/EU
The proposed project is focused on implementation of analytical methods for determination of priority compounds as defined in Water Framework Directive (WFD), validate them in order to ensure quality of measured monitoring data and train personnel on utilization and modification in installed methods in case of WFD update.
From the long-term perspective, the project completion will have following impacts:
•Harmonization of analytical methods used in monitoring of surface as well as marine waters at NEA (and ensure comparable data for water quality at not only national but also international level, improve international reputation and trustworthy of Georgian NEA in Caucasus region as well as Black sea region);
•Improve qualification of NEA personnel and will define management requirements for hiring of future qualified personnel.
Result
Intended results:
Outcome 1.
Trained personnel of NEA on WFD requirements, fundamentals of sample treatment methods used in monitoring of WFD pollutants and validation approaches.
Outcome 2.
Installation of analytical methods and protocols for the determination of the selected WFD pollutants at NEA. WFD pollutants were selected based on equipment and capacities in partner organization.
