Georgia Resilient Agriculture, Irrigation and Land Project - ESMP for Zeda Arkhi Irrigation Scheme
Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia (MEPA) is implementing the Georgia Resilient Agriculture, Irrigation, and Land (GRAIL) Project, co-financed by the World Bank and the Government of Georgia. A Project Implementation Unit (PIU) under MEPA undertakes day-to-day management of the Project, including, among other functions, procurement, contract management, and environmental and social risk management. The rehabilitation and modernization of Zeda- Arkhi Irrigation Scheme (ZAIS), Bolnisi Municipality within the Kvemo Kartli Region, is included in the Project’s scope as one of several subprojects. Rehabilitation works will be carried out by a construction company (“Contractor”) hired by PIU (“Employer”). PIU will undertake technical supervision of works, including environmental and social oversight, through a hired firm (“Engineer”).
