The first forum of local winemakers and viticulturists was held in Bolnisi

Mr. Yuri Nozadze, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia attended the first forum of local viticulturists and winemakers in Bolnisi, which was organized by the association "Wine Bolnisi’’, with the support of the Bolnisi City Hall and the company RMJ.
 
Mr. Levan Ujmajuridze, Director of the Agricultural Scientific Research Center, and Mr. Zurab Vacharadze, Deputy Chairman of the National Wine Agency participated in the event.
 
The Deputy Minister spoke about the importance of measures taken by the state to develop the viticulture and winemaking field and boost the popularization of Georgian wine while addressing the participants.

"I hope that Bolnisi wines will become popular not only in Georgia but also in the international markets. The state implements many programs to support the development of the wine-growing sector. our top priority task is to diversify the markets, on which the state, together with the wine companies is working hard- said Mr. Yuri Nozadze.
 Guram Avkopashvili, the founder of "Wine Bolnisi" spoke about the events implemented within the organization. According to him, 43 local wine cellars produce up to 200,000 bottles of wine per year.
"In recent years, the number of local wineries has been increased, at the same time, the quality of wine has been improved as well.

In March, we held an exhibition-tasting event of Bolnisi wines in Katowice, Poland, where 25 small types of Bolnisi wineries presented about 70 types of wine. The event was a success - the exporters expressed their desire to buy our wines. We will export to the Polish market for the first time, this year "- said Guram Avkopashvili.

The winemakers participating in the forum, who are not yet members of the association "Wine Bolnisi", received information about the support, that each winemaker can receive in case of membership in the association.
 
16 winemakers were awarded high quality oak barrels for  producing the best wines.

According to the representatives of the company "RMJ", the Georgian-German wine house is being restored and rehabilitated, which is being implemented by the German Cultural Heritage Association in the South Caucasus with the support of "RMJ". The works will be completed by the end of the year.

This will be a place where guests will get familiar with and taste the best Bolnisi wines while visiting the city.

Since 2018, a number of interesting and useful projects have been implemented with the support of the Winemakers' Union "Wine Bolnisi", the Bolnisi Municipality, and the company "RMJ".

As a result of the cooperation, Bolnisi wineries actively participate in local and international exhibition competitions, educational courses, and seminars, they receive marketing support to offer the highest quality Bolnisi wines to local and international customers. Â
